The Gravel Pit

Upgraded to 4S, and am trying the classic HQ 5x4x3 propellers on my Spedix Black Knight 250 at a Gravel Pit I discovered in old Ft. Ord.

Thoughts: Loving these Adrenaline Batteries, as for the HQ Props, compared the DAL 5x4.5x3 V2  "Indestructible" (on 3S) it feels like my rates got lowered.  Thankfully I have several profiles on a switch, but even on my highest profile I still feel I could turn it up more.

Note: The shudder on the pitch axis is due to the way the GoPro is mounted, need to ditch the case and mount it directly to the quad, or tune it out. (Afterthought: I think I am going to Dremel the mounting piece off the case, should save some weight, and allow me to mount it closer to the quad).

Thunder Drone Summer (Drinks & Drones) @ Darq Track

Got the chance to hang out with a bunch of Drone Top Pilots, and the crew of the ASL (Aerial Sports League).  I learned a lot from this experience, from setup, to frequency management (someone didn't turn off the 5ghz WiFi).

Was hoping I would be able to get some of my own racing footage, but after having my goggles fill with static (caused me to crash), one of my motors wouldn't spin up, and to make matters worse my DVR wasn't on the right band (so my footage is garbage beyond 10 feet).

Regardless, it was a lot of fun, got to meet several great people, and look forward to participating more in the future.

Will post up a "behind the scenes" video soon using some footage acquired by my TinyWhoop (when I wasn't helping build the track).

Flight Club with Zoe FPV - Volume 1

Drones in a Parking Garage; Racing, Crashes, Cops, oh my! Come join us for "Flight Club", hosted by Zoe FPV!

Special thanks to Zoe FPV (for hosting) & All Attendees that helped make this meetup a success!

Where am I? I managed to snap the shaft on one of my motors on my first (warmup) pack, and wasn't recording, but was fun while it lasted! Thanks for watching, and Happy Flying!

Trimming Bando Trees

Decided to take the GoPro off my quad and fly it for the first time without it on 3S Batteries.  Also first time flying in a non wide-open area.  So what you are seeing is exactly what I see as captured by my Rotor Riot Edition Runcam Swift.  No color correction has been applied, and is exactly what my HMDVR recorded, except I corrected the aspect, and upscaled (so you can get the best bitrate from YouTube).

Notes: Testing out higher Rates than in the video "Taking it Slow and Eating Dust".  I presume this experience is very similar as to what flying with a 4S battery with the GoPro strapped will feel like.

Taking it Slow and Eating Dust

Been over a month since I've flown my Black Knight 250 quad, I've upgraded the firmware to the latest CleanFlight, changed my PID Controller to LuxFloat, and pushing the limit of my 3S battery.

Notes: I'm not sure what my camera angle is, but it definitely feels steeper than in the DRL Simulator, its probably at 40*, which with the way the camera is in the current bracket, I can't lower it.  My Rates were a little on the looser side than I want; will have to try out some other Profiles (on a switch) when I fly next.  I also put my GoPro and Case on the scale, and its pretty close to 200g of dead weight. At the end (before eating dust), I tried to correct and give power, but was at the limit of what the battery could give.  I think it is time to invest in 4S batteries.

Surviving L.A.Pocalypse in the DRL Simulator

Honing my skills as a FPV Pilot by flying freestyle through the DRL Level L.A.Pocalypse.  To error is human, and if your not crashing, your not pushing yourself.  Honestly I'm very happy with my current level of control, and it translates well to real life quads, though I haven't put my real quad in the position it could explode.... yet...

This is my current progress after 2 months of practice.

Happy and Safe Flying!
